I’m loving your substack! It’s so valuable not only for a fashion lover but also a sewist and slow fashion lover. Thank you for everything you’ve posted. This post in particular has made me really think better about my fabric choices and pairing them with my projects. Thank you!🙏
I didn’t realize you were on Substack! I often feel like I need to take notes since your videos are chock full of great advice. Love the newsletter format though I’ll still be following on YouTube.
Tom Wood is the only gold plated jewelry I’ve found that is extremely durable. I’ve had pieces that I’ve worn for years and they’re still good! Plus all of his silver pieces get plated with rhodium so they’re high shine and won’t tarnish.
One-hundred percent agree with your recommendation of gold-filled instead of gold-plated. I make sterling silver jewelry and will sometimes add gold-filled accents. But I never use plated anything. As for the wool, I am allergic to wool and cannot wear any wool next to my skin, not even high quality cashmere. Any alternatives for me?
I heavily agree on the jewelry note. Buying “gold plated” here in the US usually means 2-3 wears before your hands start to smell like metal (gross). Fewer but better has been my motto 🙌🏼 Loving these posts!

Such great info here, Helen! I really enjoy your YouTube channel and was happy to see you on Substack. I only started learning about
/paying attention to fabric composition in the past few years and it’s made such a difference in my wardrobe and the quality of my purchases.
